Arm the Advocates

Arm the Advocates is a program created to support Advocates Internation's domestic efforts and our advocates abroad while training young attorneys and law students in the practice of law. Every three months a new group of students from various law schools become a part of AI's volunteer staff with the goal of providing assistance in matters of legal research.

One current focus of Arm the Advocates is the creation of the Advocates Online Legal Resource Center which is an internet resource for our advocates abroad and others seeking legal information on various countries. Arm the Advocates Project will be writing and posting online research memos describing and analyzing the legal systems in various countries and researching the status of the laws and their enforcement related to our six Areas of Advocacy. This research will begin with developing countries in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Eastern Europe where few if any resources are available on these topics. Law clerks working on these memos when feasible, work with Advocates in the nations in question, sharing information and identifying the needs of Advocates in that nation.

If you or someone you know is a law student who would be interested in being a part of the Arm the Advocates project please email AI Staff Counsel Bart Waxman at dbwaxman@advocatesinternational.org
