In 2007, AA officially selected seven members for its Board. In 2010, AA’s activities included prayer calendars on news of religious liberty violations and on current and critical concerns of the Church in Asia, encouraging the formation of national fellowships in other countries in Asia, addressing rule of law concerns, disaster relief, and professional and ministry networking. For its part, Advocates Oceania has lived in the hearts of leaders such as Mark Mudri and Sue-Ellen Hollyock, but their desire to see a formal group became a reality when a dozen Christian lawyers, law students and advocates went to Washington DC for the 2008 Global Convocation. The first official meeting of Advocates Oceania occurred then. Though almost all were based at the time in Adelaide or Brisbane, the Lord in His intriguing way has scattered that group to capital cities and regional centres throughout the nation carrying the Advocates vision. Although both Advocates Asia and Advocates Oceania host their own conferences, advocates from both participate in each other’s conferences, and there is mutual support and collaboration. Advocates Asia Board of Directors Acting Co-Chair and member: Gregory Vijayendran Acting Co-Chair and member: Robin David Projects Our colleagues in Nepal filed a writ petition to keep the new anti-conversion law from being implemented in August 2018. Please continue to pray for them and as they continue to work on matters related to the court’s decision regarding the Christmas holiday. On December 2017, thanks be to God and to your prayers and support they won the case to put Christmas back on the calendar. Read July 2018 Newsletter. Australia In 2002, the Lawyer Christian Fellowship of South Australia formed. They fed the homeless, organized home groups and monthly prayer meetings, offered trainings, provided legal assistance, and launched an initiative that called for pastoral care for the profession. It was during the 2008 Global Convocation that 12 lawyers from Australia relived Advocates Oceania (AO) and now seek prayer and support for the expansion of AO through Australia and the South Pacific. On May 2017, Advocate Lucy Gichuhi was sworn as Australia’s Senator. She joined Gerardo Amarilla and Baasankhuu Oktyabri as advocates who have served Parliament in their nations.
